The VIM-4GMINICAM5 runs on a 4G SIM with no WiFi and no cabling, and it detects people by radar rather than PIR, so sun and heat do not set it off, and it sees through glass where a PIR camera is blind. Sit it inside a window looking out and it detects a person about 3 metres beyond the glass, 6 metres in the open, and starts recording in a quarter of a second.

It records 2304 x 1296 through a 3.2mm F2.5 lens with a 125 degree view, and four 940nm infrared lights reach about 8 metres with no red glow. Two-way audio works through the app. The 2400mAh high-temperature cell is tested to keep running after four hours at 80 degrees, so a windowsill in full sun, a roof space or a parked car does not shut it down; it gives about two weeks in low-power mode, nine hours continuous, or runs constantly on USB-C or a small solar panel. Footage goes to a microSD card up to 128GB with no monthly fee, the magnetic base grips any steel surface, and the whole camera is 39 by 39 by 59mm at 98g. It is not weather sealed, so it lives indoors or behind glass; for outside in the open, the IP66 VIM-4GMINICAM3 is the one.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0599/4636/9106/files/mini-4g-security-camera-2k-radar-app-live-view.jpg?v=1791427283
