Applications

Application Scenarios

Night Wildlife Observation

Nocturnal animals stay hidden. You hear movement but can't see what's there.

200m infrared vision reveals everything. Record behavior without torch glare. 5X zoom identifies species from a safe distance.

Property Security Patrols

Your farm is dark at night. Strange vehicles near the boundary. Are they lost or trespassing?

Scan fence lines and paddocks from your veranda. Record clear video evidence, faces, plates, activities. IR illuminator works silently without giving away your position.

Search & Rescue Operations

Missing person last seen at dusk. Terrain is rough, light is fading fast.

See through darkness and light fog. 5X zoom scans distant ridges and gullies. Record footage for coordination with emergency teams.

Lawful Use

Legal for personal observation, wildlife study, and security on property you own or control. Recording people without consent in private settings may be restricted, check local surveillance laws. Never use for voyeurism or illegal surveillance.

How it Works

Turn it on, select night vision mode for complete darkness or daytime mode for colour viewing. The infrared illuminator (invisible to human eye) lights up the scene. Light reflects back to the Sony sensor, creating a clear monochrome image on the 1.5" screen. Press record to save video/photos to microSD card. Rechargeable battery lasts 1.5-2 hours.

  • Not sure which type suits you? The Night Vision Buying Guide covers Gen 1, digital and thermal, and what each is actually good for.
  • Want it watching while you are not there? A trail camera records unattended on its own infrared, all night, for months on one set of batteries.
  • Infrared still needs something to reflect off. A thermal monocular picks up body heat through scrub and light cover, where a digital unit sees nothing.
