Description

A 4G camera on a remote block needs its own SIM and its own data plan. Three of them need three. This router turns one mobile connection into WiFi for everything within about 50 metres, and runs on sunlight while it does it.

The VIM-4GSOLR takes a data SIM on 4G bands B1 to B40 and serves 802.11 b/g/n WiFi at 2.4GHz. A 15 Watt panel charges a 20000mAh battery, and the unit draws under 2.5 Watts, so it keeps running through cloudy weather. The IP66 housing is 34 by 23 by 8cm on a 20cm bracket neck, weighs a kilogram, and is designed to stay outside permanently. Setup and monitoring run from an Android or iOS phone.

Features

Solar-powered 4G internet: Converts a 4G LTE data SIM into WiFi so remote locations can share mobile data across nearby devices without wired broadband.
Always-on off-grid operation: Built-in solar panel, rechargeable battery and low power draw are sized for 24/7 use, even during extended trips away from mains power.
Wide WiFi coverage: Provides wireless coverage up to 50 m in open areas, giving enough range to cover campsites, sheds and outdoor work zones from a single router.
Outdoor-ready, weatherproof build: IP66-rated enclosure and mounting bracket are made for permanent outdoor installation in rain, dust and varying temperatures.
Portable and easy to deploy: Compact design, SIM card slot and simple setup let you carry the router between sites and quickly share WiFi with phones, laptops and cameras.
High-output solar and battery system: 15 W solar panel and 20000 mAh battery support extended off-grid WiFi for remote properties and campsites.

Applications

How This Router Is Used

This solar-powered 4G router suits camping setups, farm sheds, rural homes, construction sites and other areas where wired internet and power are limited but shared connectivity is still essential. Mount it outdoors with the supplied bracket, angle the solar panel toward the sun, insert a data SIM and then connect nearby phones, tablets, laptops or security cameras to the WiFi network within range.

How it Works

Mount it high and clear: WiFi coverage is up to 50 metres in the open, and 4G reception improves with height. The 20cm bracket neck is there to get it above a roofline or a fence.
Insert a data SIM: A 4G data SIM is what the router shares. It supports bands B1 through B40, including the 700MHz band that reaches furthest into rural New Zealand.
Connect your devices: Phones, tablets, laptops and 4G ready cameras join the 2.4GHz network like any other WiFi. One data plan then covers all of them instead of one SIM each.

Specifications

Power: 5V, 2A maximum. Use the adapter supplied, or a standard 5V USB charger or power bank rated 2A or less. Do not use fast chargers (USB-C PD, Quick Charge, Super Fast Charging) or high-output power banks: they can damage the device.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the VIM-4GSOLR connect to the internet?

The router uses a 4G LTE data SIM card to connect to the mobile network and then shares that connection over WiFi so multiple devices can go online.

How far does the WiFi signal reach?

In open areas the WiFi coverage is rated for up to 50 m. Indoors or through walls the usable range will be shorter, depending on the layout and materials.

How long can it run without direct sunlight?

The solar panel charges the internal battery, which is specified to keep the router operating for several days in cloudy conditions when fully charged.

Is this router suitable for permanent outdoor mounting?

Yes. The housing and bracket are designed for outdoor use and carry an IP66 rating, helping protect the unit from rain, dust and general weather exposure.

How many devices can share the connection?

The router supports WiFi sharing for multiple smartphones, tablets, laptops and compatible cameras at the same time, with performance limited mainly by mobile data speed.
