Description

The VIM-GPS105 4G GPS tracker combines GPS and BeiDou dual-satellite positioning with live audio monitoring and voice recording, in requests of up to 10 minutes split into 30 second files. A 3000 mAh lithium-ion battery gives up to 10 days of normal use and a strong magnetic mount makes installation quick and discreet. Settings, route playback and alerts run from the mobile app or the web interface, and firmware updates arrive over the air.

Features

Real-time tracking: GPS + BDS positioning delivers live location updates for vehicles and assets.
Live audio & recording: Remotely listen and capture short voice recordings for situational context.
Magnetic, tool-free install: Built-in strong magnet secures the tracker quickly under or inside a vehicle.
Smart alerts & geofences: Receive notifications for vibration, low battery, light, and boundary events.
Built for the field: IP65 weatherproof body and 3000 mAh battery support longer deployments.
Flexible tracking modes: Choose motion-based, interval, or geofence-triggered updates to balance detail and battery life.
Parking monitoring & reports: See stop locations and durations with alerts when the vehicle moves again.
Route playback history: Review prior journeys for verification, auditing, or mileage checks.

Applications

How People Deploy It

Attach the tracker to cars, vans or equipment to deter theft, verify routes and confirm stops. Create zones for depots or job sites, get alerted on entry/exit, review parking duration and play back previous trips for audits or mileage checks.

How it Works

Fit a SIM and charge it: Insert a micro SIM on a data plan and charge the 3000 mAh battery, which gives up to 10 days of normal use.
Place it in the vehicle: At 78 x 39 x 29mm and 123 grams it sits under a seat or in a console without being obvious.
Track, record and set alerts: GPS and BeiDou together give the position, reported over 4G. Request audio and the unit records up to 10 minutes, split into 30 second files, then makes them available in the app alongside route playback and geo-fence alerts.

Firmware updates arrive over the air, so the unit can be kept current while it stays in the vehicle.

Specifications

Power: 5V, 2A maximum. Use the adapter supplied, or a standard 5V USB charger or power bank rated 2A or less. Do not use fast chargers (USB-C PD, Quick Charge, Super Fast Charging) or high-output power banks: they can damage the device.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much audio can it record at a time?

Up to 10 minutes per request, split into 30 second files so a long recording can be scrubbed through rather than played from the start.

How long does the battery last?

Up to 10 days of normal use from the 3000 mAh battery. Frequent position uploads and audio requests both shorten that.

How accurate is the position?

It uses GPS and BeiDou together, which holds a steadier fix between buildings than GPS on its own.

Where does it fit in a vehicle?

At 78 x 39 x 29mm and 123 grams it sits under a seat or in a console. It operates from -20 to +75 degrees Celsius, so a parked car in summer is not a problem.

Can the firmware be updated?

Yes, over the air, so the unit does not have to come out of the vehicle.

Is it legal to use the live listening feature?

Audio is treated differently from location in New Zealand law, and more strictly. Listening to a conversation you are part of, or recording in your own vehicle where the people in it have been told, is generally lawful. Intercepting a private conversation you are not part of, using a device like this one, is an offence under section 216B of the Crimes Act 1961 and carries real penalties. If you record for a business or at work, the Privacy Act 2020 applies as well. Use the tracking freely on your own assets and take advice before you use the microphone on anyone else. This is general information rather than legal advice.
