Description

The MAS-ACTGLAS720P is the outdoor pair: 35 grams of sunglasses with an IP66 splash rating, folding to 150 x 140 x 40mm, built for a bike, a slope or a boat rather than a meeting room.

Its specification gives 1920 x 1080p video in AVI and 3264 x 2448 stills, with WAV audio at 24kHz. The battery runs up to 90 minutes and files go to a Class 10 microSD card up to 32GB, with an 8GB card in the box.

Features

IP66 splash rating: Rated for weather and spray, though not for submersion, more than 5 seconds or deeper than 0.3 metres.
Full HD with stills: 1920 x 1080p AVI video and 3264 x 2448 JPG photographs.
WAV audio at 24kHz: Sound recorded alongside the video with a pickup range of about a metre.
Up to 90 minutes: Enough for a ride, a run or a session on the water.
8GB card supplied: Records out of the box, with the slot taking a Class 10 card up to 32GB.
35 grams: Light enough to forget about, and it folds to 150 x 140 x 40mm.

Applications

Real-World Scenarios

Recording Your Own Ride or Run

A first person record of what you did, from where you were looking, without a camera on a helmet mount.

Working Outdoors

The IP66 rating is the reason to choose this pair over the indoor frames. Weather and spray do not stop it.

Documenting a Property You Own

Walk a site you own or manage in the rain and record its condition hands free.

An Incident You Are Part Of

Being present is what makes recording reasonable, and sunglasses are on your face before anything happens.

How it Works

Charge and load: charge at DC 5V over the mini 5 pin USB connector and fit the supplied 8GB card.
Wear and record: wear them and use the buttons to start video or take a photograph.
Retrieve the files: connect over mini USB to copy the AVI and JPG files onto a Windows computer.

Specifications

Power: 5V, 2A maximum. Use the adapter supplied, or a standard 5V USB charger or power bank rated 2A or less. Do not use fast chargers (USB-C PD, Quick Charge, Super Fast Charging) or high-output power banks: they can damage the device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a 720p or a 1080p camera?

Its specification says 1920 x 1080p, which is Full HD. The product handle and title say 720P. The two do not agree, and we have used the specification figure. Ask us if the exact resolution matters to your purchase.

Can I wear them in the rain?

Yes. The IP66 rating covers weather and spray. It does not cover submersion, being under water for more than five seconds, or depths beyond 0.3 metres, so do not swim in them.

Is there built-in memory?

No. Recording goes to a Class 10 microSD card up to 32GB, and an 8GB card is supplied. The older FAQ on this product said 8GB was built in, which does not match the specification.

How long do they record?

Up to about 90 minutes, depending on temperature and how often you start and stop.

Can I record with this legally in New Zealand?

Worn and used while you are present, yes. You are a party to what happens in front of you, and recording a conversation you are part of is lawful here, as is filming in a place you own or control. What you cannot do is leave them recording a conversation you are not part of, take them into a bathroom, changing area or anywhere else with a reasonable expectation of privacy, or record intimate footage, which is an offence under the Crimes Act 1961.
