How long does the battery last between charges?

About 12 days on standby with motion-triggered wake. The camera sleeps until motion fires it, records the event, returns to sleep. For continuous 24/7 recording, plug into USB power for always-on monitoring.

Can I mount this camera outdoors?

No. This is an indoor-only camera with no IP rating. For window viewing of outdoor activity, daytime works through clear glass. Night vision does NOT work through glass because the 940 nm IR LEDs reflect off the window. For permanent outdoor monitoring, use a weatherproof outdoor model instead.

Does this camera need WiFi?

Yes for remote viewing. The camera connects to a 2.4 GHz WiFi network for live streaming and app access. It records locally to the microSD card even without WiFi, but you cannot view the feed remotely until WiFi reconnects.

What does AI person detection actually filter?

Humanoid detection isolates human-shape triggers from animal motion, leaves blowing, lighting changes, and shadows. Alerts only fire when a person enters the frame, cutting false notifications during after-hours commercial surveillance significantly.

How is footage stored?

Footage saves to a microSD card you supply (up to 128 GB, card not included). Local recording runs continuously on the card. Cloud storage is also available through the app as an alternative recording destination.

Can I talk through the camera?

No. This camera has a built-in microphone for audio capture but no speaker, so audio only flows one way into the recording. For two-way talkback (greeting visitors, deterring intruders verbally), you need a different model with speaker hardware.

Is this legal for commercial workplace surveillance?

Legal on property you own or have authorised access to. Recording in private spaces like bathrooms or change rooms is illegal in New Zealand. Workplace surveillance is governed by the Privacy Act 2020 and the Employment Relations Act 2000, so check your obligations and notify employees before deployment in areas they pass through.
