Description

The VIM-V94 is a body worn kit. The lens sits behind an 8mm button head on a 2m lead, and the WiFi recorder it plugs into goes in a pocket or a bag. It records what you are doing and what is in front of you, from where you are standing.

Recording is 1920 x 1080p through a Sony IMX323 sensor to a microSD card up to 256GB, and the recorder joins your own router when you are back at base so you can pull clips off it or watch live. The internal cell runs about four hours, and a power bank or the supplied adapter takes it further.

Features

Worn on the lead: An 8mm button head on a 2m cable, with the recorder in a pocket or a bag rather than on your chest.
Full HD recording: 1920 x 1080p through a Sony IMX323 sensor, saved as AVI to your own card.
Large card support: microSD up to 256GB, enough for a long stretch of recording before you have to clear it.
WiFi for review: Joins your own router for live view and playback on Android, iOS or a Windows 8 or 10 PC.
Motion alerts: In a fixed position, motion detection starts a clip and pushes a notification.
Four hour backup battery: Continuous use on the internal cell, or indefinitely from the supplied adapter or a power bank.

Applications

Real-World Scenarios

Recording Your Own Work

A trade, an inspection or a job where you want a record of what you did and what condition something was in when you got there. You are in the room and it is your own work being recorded.

An Incident You Are Part Of

If something happens to you, a recording of it made by you is evidence. Being present is what makes this reasonable.

Documenting Your Own Property

Walk through a site you own or manage and record its condition, rather than trying to describe it afterwards.

As a Fixed Camera in Your Own Space

Put the recorder on the supplied adapter and the lens in a fitting, and it works as an ordinary fixed camera on your own premises.

How it Works

Fit and connect: fit the button head through a panel or a garment, connect it to the recorder on its 2m lead and fit a microSD card.
Start recording: start recording with the recorder in a pocket or a bag, or leave it plugged in as a fixed camera.
Watch or review: join the recorder to your own WiFi to watch live or pull the clips off it, or read the card on a computer.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it run without being plugged in?

About four hours on the internal backup battery. For a full day, run it from a power bank; a 20,000mAh pack takes the standby figure to roughly ten days.

Where does the lens sit?

Behind a button head about 8mm across, on a 2m lead, so the recorder can be in a bag or a pocket while the lens faces forward from a garment or a panel.

Can I watch it while I am away?

Yes, if the recorder is joined to your own router. Worn and away from that network it records to the card and you review it afterwards.

How much footage fits on a card?

A 256GB card holds around ten days of recording at typical settings, which is why the large card support matters more here than on a fixed camera.

Can I record with this legally in New Zealand?

Worn and carried, this is a device you are present with, so recording a conversation you are part of is lawful in New Zealand, and so is filming in a place you own or control. What you cannot do is leave it recording a conversation you are not part of, use it in a bathroom, changing area or anywhere else with a reasonable expectation of privacy, or record intimate footage, which is an offence under the Crimes Act 1961. If you fit it as a fixed camera on your own premises, the Privacy Act 2020 expects you to tell the people who live or work there.
