Description

A phone on the table can record every word in the room, through an app the owner opened, through spyware they do not know about, or through a call left connected.

The VIM-GSM-3 looks like a premium wireless charging station and holds two phones in separate bays. Twenty four ultrasonic emitters across both compartments interfere with the microphones while the phones charge, so there is an ordinary reason for everyone to put their phone in the dock. Blocking and charging have separate switches, and it runs on mains power over USB-C.

Features

Neutralise Phone Microphones: Ultrasonic emitters interfere with microphone hardware, rendering recordings as distorted static regardless of what app or spyware is running
Block Live Listening: Defeats real-time eavesdropping through phone calls, voice memos, and spyware that streams audio to third parties
Complete Compartment Coverage: 24 ultrasonic emitters across both bays ensure phones receive full interference with no dead spots
Dual Phone Capacity: Two separate compartments hold phones simultaneously, covering everyone at the table without stacking devices
Wireless Charging Built-In: Phones charge while blocked, so there's a legitimate reason for them to be in the dock during meetings
Discreet Desktop Design: Looks like a premium wireless charging station, not counter-surveillance equipment
Independent Controls: Separate switches for ultrasonic blocking and wireless charging let you run either function alone or both together
Touch Panel Operation: Clean interface with indicator lights confirms when blocking is active

Applications

Real-World Scenarios

A Meeting Where Phones Stay On The Table

Asking people to hand their phones over is awkward. Asking them to put them on the charger is not.

The dock holds two phones in separate bays and charges them wirelessly, which gives everyone an ordinary reason to put them down. The ultrasonic function runs on its own switch while they sit there.

A Consultation Where Confidentiality Is The Job

Legal advice, financial planning, anything covered by professional privilege.

A phone in the room with a recording app open, or with something on it the owner does not know about, is the realistic risk. The dock covers the phones placed in it, which is the specific problem it is built for.

A Home Office With A Front Door

Working from home means confidential calls happen in a house other people walk through.

It sits on the desk like any charging station. Drop your phone in before a sensitive call and the microphone in it is covered for as long as it is in the bay.

How it Works

Plug the dock in over USB-C and set it on the meeting table. It has no internal battery, so it lives where there is power.
Ask people to drop their phones into the two bays. They charge wirelessly, which is the reason anyone gives for doing it.
Switch the ultrasonic function on from the touch panel. The 24 emitters fill both compartments, so a microphone in either bay records interference rather than the room.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it block a phone that is not in the dock?

No. The 24 emitters are inside the two compartments. This unit secures the phones that are placed in it, which is a different job from flooding a whole room. For the room, look at the 6 to 8 metre units in this range.

How many phones does it take?

Two, in separate bays, so two people at the table are covered without stacking devices on top of each other.

Can I charge without blocking, or block without charging?

Yes. There are independent switches for the ultrasonic function and for wireless charging, so you can run either alone.

Does it need a battery?

No, and it does not have one. It runs from mains power over USB-C, which suits a permanent spot on a meeting table.

Will the phone owner know it is running?

There are indicator lights on the touch panel that show the blocking function is active. The ultrasonic output itself is above the range of human hearing.

Is it legal to use one of these in New Zealand?

You can protect your own conversations in a space you control, and that is what these are made for. Two things to keep in mind. This is an ultrasonic device: it emits sound above the range of human hearing, not radio signals, so it is not a radio jammer, and radio frequency jamming equipment is regulated separately under the Radiocommunications Act 1989. And it works on every microphone in range, including ones you may be relying on, so switch it off before a call you want recorded and never use it to interfere with a recording someone is lawfully entitled to make.
