Description

Optical zoom is the difference between recording that a vehicle was at your gate and recording which vehicle it was. This camera pairs a 5x optical lens with a 4K sensor, so the far end of a long driveway arrives at the same quality as the front step. It runs on mains power at about 2.2W, connects over 2.4GHz WiFi, and records continuously to a microSD card with no monthly fee.

Features

Pull Detail In From Distance: 5x optical zoom is real glass, not digital cropping, so the far end of the section arrives at the same 4K quality as the near end
True 4K Detail: an 8MP IMX415 sensor records 3840x2160 at 30fps, which is what makes a zoomed frame still worth looking at
Knows People From Shadows: humanoid and vehicle recognition raises the alert for what matters and ignores branches, rain and passing animals
Choose How It Sees At Night: 20m infrared for a discreet mono picture, or the white LED flood light for full colour when you want the area lit
Four Zones, Four Sensitivities: four independent detection areas, each with its own sensitivity, so one approach can be watched closely while the rest is not
Built To Sit Outside: IP67 rated, rated from minus 5 to 55 degrees, and H.265 compression to stretch a 128GB card

Applications

Real-World Scenarios

A Long Driveway Or A Deep Section

A camera at the house that cannot reach the gate is only half a camera. Optical zoom lets you frame the far end properly, so a vehicle at the road is recorded as a vehicle you can identify rather than a shape in the distance.

Watching A Gate From The House

Running power and cable to a gate is often the reason a camera never gets installed. Mounting at the house and zooming in avoids the trenching entirely, and the mains supply means it records continuously rather than waking on motion.

A Yard Or Shed You Want Read At Night

With infrared out to 20m the near ground is covered in mono, and the flood light turns the same scene into full colour. On a yard with plant or stock sitting out, that difference decides whether footage is useful or just proof something moved.

How it Works

Mount and power: fix the bracket, fit both antennas and run the DC 12V adapter to a mains outlet; the camera draws only 2.2W
Join your WiFi: connect over 802.11b/g/n on 2.4GHz through the app, about 50m from the router in the open
Frame and zoom: set the 5x optical zoom on the view you actually care about, draw your detection areas and leave it recording to microSD

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is the 5x zoom optical or digital?

Optical. The lens moves, so zooming in does not cost you resolution the way digital cropping does. That is the main reason to choose this model over a fixed lens camera.

2. Does this camera need WiFi?

Yes, a 2.4GHz network. There is no SIM slot. For a site with no internet you would want a 4G camera instead.

3. Is a memory card included?

No. It takes a microSD card up to 128GB, bought separately. There is no subscription and no cloud fee.

4. How much power does it use?

Very little. It runs on DC 12V at about 2.2W, so leaving it recording continuously costs almost nothing to run.

5. Will it work through a cold winter?

It is rated from minus 5 to 55 degrees Celsius and carries an IP67 weather rating, which covers most New Zealand conditions outside genuine alpine sites.
