Description

A power bank is a plausible thing to leave on a bench in your own office or workshop, and that is the practical value of the VIM-POW12: a working 5000mAh charger with a 4G camera inside it, so it can watch a space that has no fixed camera and no network.

It records 1920x1080 to a microSD card up to 128GB and streams live at up to 4K over its own 4G SIM, so you can watch from a phone anywhere with coverage. Audio is captured alongside the video, motion events are logged and pushed to the app, and files are saved as AVI or JPG with H.265 compression. It runs about ten hours recording continuously, or about five hours in live view mode, and still charges devices over USB 2.0 and USB Type C. It is 140 by 80 by 15mm and weighs 168g.

Features

4G remote access: Insert a data-enabled SIM to stream, configure, and receive push alerts without relying on local Wi-Fi.
4K live, 1080p recorded: Stream in Ultra HD 4K for detail-rich checks while saving evidence in 1080p to conserve storage.
Works as a real power bank: A 5000mAh charger with USB-C and overcharge protection, so it does the job it appears to do while the camera runs.
Smart capture modes: Switch between motion-activated, continuous, or scheduled recording to match the scene and save power.
On-board storage and audio: 128GB built-in memory and a microphone keep clips local with contextual sound.
Compact and portable: Lightweight design for easy, on-the-go recording.
Full app control: Remotely access, play back, and download recordings via the mobile app.
Instant push alerts: Receive notifications on motion detection and recording events.

Applications

Real-World Scenarios

Workshops and back offices you run

A bench or a back office in premises you own is a sensible place for a power bank to sit, and gives you a fixed view without installing a camera or running a cable.

Stockrooms and service areas

In a business you own or manage, it covers a stock area or a counter for the length of a shift. Tell your staff that recording happens, which is the lawful position and the effective one.

Vehicles and temporary sites

A van, a site office or a stand at an event has no camera and no network. The 4G SIM and the internal cell make it self contained for the day.

How it Works

Charge it and load a card: Fill the 5000mAh cell and fit a microSD card up to 128GB. It works as an ordinary power bank at the same time, over USB 2.0 and USB Type C.
Insert a data SIM: A 4G SIM on bands B1 to B8 brings it online. Live view and playback then run from the app on Android, iOS or a Windows PC with no WiFi involved.
Place it and set alerts: Put it where you need the view in a space you own or manage, turn on motion logging and push alerts, and let it record to the card while you watch from wherever you are.

Frequently Asked Questions

What resolution does it actually record?

Recording to the card is Full HD 1920 x 1080p. The 4K figure is the live streaming mode, so what is stored for later review is 1080p.

How long does it run?

About ten hours recording continuously, or about five hours in live view mode. Watching only from time to time extends that considerably.

Does it need WiFi?

No. It uses its own 4G data SIM on bands B1, B3, B5 and B8, so it works anywhere with mobile coverage.

Does it still work as a power bank?

Yes. The 5000mAh cell charges devices over USB 2.0 and USB Type C while the camera runs.

What can I lawfully record with a camera like this in New Zealand?

You can record premises you own or control, such as your own office, workshop, stockroom or vehicle, to protect property and gather evidence. Under the Privacy Act 2020 you should tell people who work there that recording happens, and you must not point a camera into a place where someone reasonably expects privacy, such as a bathroom or a changing area. Recording audio of a conversation you are not part of is treated more strictly than video under the Crimes Act 1961. This is general information, not legal advice.
