Description

The VIM-POW11 is a working 5000mAh power bank, 140 x 80 x 15mm and 168g, with a camera and 128GB of built in memory in the same case. It charges a phone over USB 2.0 or USB Type C while it records, and it has output overcharge protection.

Live view streams at Ultra HD 4K in the app on Android, iOS or a Windows PC, while recording is Full HD 1920 x 1080p in H.265, saved as AVI and JPG to the internal 128GB. It joins a 2.4GHz network or runs its own WiFi hotspot, records continuously, on a schedule or on motion with push alerts, and captures audio through a built in microphone. The 5000mAh cell gives about ten hours of continuous recording or about five hours in live view.

Features

4K live, 1080p recorded: Live view runs at Ultra HD 4K in the app, and recording is Full HD 1920 x 1080p in H.265 for a smaller file.
Works as a real power bank: The 5000mAh cell charges a phone over USB 2.0 or USB Type C with overcharge protection, and the camera runs at the same time.
Three recording modes: Continuous, scheduled or motion triggered, with push notifications on movement.
Network or hotspot: It joins a 2.4GHz WiFi network for remote viewing, or runs its own hotspot when there is no network to join.
128GB built in: Storage is internal, so there is no card to buy or lose. Clips are downloaded and deleted through the app.
Ten hours of recording: About ten hours continuous from the 5000mAh cell, or about five hours if you are watching live throughout.
Video and audio: A built in microphone records sound alongside the video, and files come off as AVI and JPG.

Applications

Real-World Scenarios

A workshop bench or a service desk

A power bank on a bench in premises you run is a normal thing that also happens to charge the tools. It covers the bench for a shift and can be carried to wherever the work is.

A stall, a stand or a temporary site

Ten hours of recording covers a trading day, the hotspot mode works without a network, and there is nothing to mount or wire in.

A home office or a study

On your own desk it charges the phone and gives you a record of your own room, with scheduled recording for the hours you actually care about.

How it Works

Charge it: Fill the 5000mAh cell over USB. There is no card to fit because storage is 128GB of internal memory.
Place it in your own space: Stand it on a desk, a bench or a shelf inside premises you own or manage, facing the area you want covered, and use it as a charger at the same time.
Connect and choose a mode: Join it to your 2.4GHz WiFi or its own hotspot in the app, pick continuous, scheduled or motion recording, then watch live and download clips from the app.

Frequently Asked Questions

What resolution does it actually save?

Recording is Full HD 1920 x 1080p in H.265. The 4K figure is the live streaming mode, so 1080p is what you keep for later.

Does it work on 5GHz WiFi?

No. It connects over 2.4GHz only, so make sure your router has a 2.4GHz band switched on. It can also run its own hotspot where there is no network.

Is there a memory card slot?

No. Storage is 128GB of built in memory, supplied with the unit, so there is nothing to buy and nothing to lose. Use the app to download or delete clips when it fills.

Can it charge a phone while recording?

Yes. It is a working 5000mAh power bank with USB 2.0 and USB Type C output and overcharge protection, and the camera runs at the same time.

What can I lawfully record with a camera like this in New Zealand?

You can record a space you own or control for your own security: your own home, a home office, a workbench, a stockroom or a stall you are running. The Privacy Act 2020 expects people who are recorded to be told, so put up a notice and tell staff and visitors. Never place it in a bathroom, a changing area or a bedroom that is not yours, because intimate visual recording is an offence under the Crimes Act 1961. Audio is treated more strictly than video, so leave it off unless you need it. This is general information rather than legal advice.
