The VIM-4GSOL3-B-2K is the 2K version of the solar PTZ that this range is built around, and the panel is what makes it work: 360 degrees of adjustment, detachable, and able to be mounted away from the camera entirely on its own lead.

A 4MP sensor records 2560x1440 at 30fps through a 4mm lens with a 120 degree view, and the head turns 360 degrees horizontally and 120 vertically. Human detection AI works with a PIR sensor across 12 metres, 840nm infrared reaches 20 metres and a white floodlight covers 30 in full colour. A 4G SIM including Spark on the 700MHz rural band connects it, a 12,000mAh pack of six 18650 cells holds the charge from a 6 Watt panel, and footage goes to a microSD card up to 128GB or the cloud. The housing is IP65.

How it Works

Mount the camera, then site the panel: The panel detaches and adjusts 360 degrees, so the camera can face the gate while the panel faces the sun. Nothing is wired in.

Does this camera need mains power or WiFi?

No. It runs from the solar panel and rechargeable cells and connects on a 4G SIM, so it works where there is mobile coverage but no power and no broadband.

How far does it see at night?

840nm infrared reaches about 20 metres. The white floodlight covers about 30 metres and records in full colour, at a higher cost in battery.

What does the human detection AI actually change?

It filters PIR triggers so you are alerted to people rather than to moving branches, which is what stops the card filling and the battery draining on a windy night.

Where is footage stored?

On a microSD card up to 128GB inside the camera, with cloud storage available as well, so a dropped mobile connection does not cost you the recording.

Can I move it to another site later?

Yes. The whole system is wireless, so the only install work is the mount and the panel angle. That makes it practical to move between sites as a job finishes.

Which app does this camera use?

The Ubox app, free to download from the App Store and Google Play. Install it, register an account and add the camera, then use the app for live view, PTZ control, alerts and playback. To let someone else watch, they install Ubox and register their own account, and you send them an invite from your app. Cloud recording plans are optional and sold in the app.
