Description

A 36 x 36mm pin, a millimetre and a half thick and 9g, that a child can wear to school on a uniform. It records WAV to 8GB of internal memory, holds up to 90 hours of audio and picks up clearly to about 10 metres.

Continuous recording runs to 15 hours, which covers a school day with room to spare, and every file carries a date and time stamp. A remote controller handles play, pause and volume, and earphones are supplied for listening back at home.

Features

Discrete coin-size build: Compact 36 mm square form factor is easy to conceal for low-profile placement.
Voice-activated capture: Records only when sound is detected to conserve battery life and storage.
Day-long runtime: Up to 15 hours continuous recording on a single charge for extended sessions.
On-device playback options: Remote controller functions (play/pause/volume) and an earphone jack for private listening.
Adequate storage & tagging: Stores up to 90 hours with 8GB memory and applies a time-date stamp to each file.

Applications

Where It Helps Most

Useful for discreet note-taking, anti-bullying logs, and simple evidence capture where quick one-key operation and voice-triggered recording reduce handling. Place in a pocket, bag, or desk and review later via headphones or the playback remote.

How it Works

Charge it the night before: A rechargeable lithium cell gives up to 15 hours of continuous recording, so one charge covers a school day.
Wear it: At 36 x 36 x 1.5mm and 9g it pins to a uniform without weighing anything. Recording distance is about 10 metres.
Listen back together: Use the remote controller and the supplied earphones to play files back, or connect over micro USB to a Windows computer. Every file is date and time stamped, which matters if the recording is ever going to be relied on.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I start recording quickly?

Use the one-key operation to begin or stop recording without menus or setup.

Does it record continuously or only with sound?

Both are possible; voice activation starts when sound is detected, or you can record continuously for up to 15 hours.

How do I review files privately?

Plug in earphones for direct listening or use the playback remote to control play, pause, and volume.

How much can it store?

The 8GB memory can hold up to 90 hours of audio; each file includes a time-date stamp for reference.

What is the typical pickup range?

Audio can be captured from up to 10 m, depending on ambient noise and placement.

Is it legal to record audio in New Zealand?

Recording a conversation you are taking part in is generally lawful in New Zealand. That covers the ordinary reasons for buying a recorder: your own meetings, your own interviews, a call you are on, dictation, and keeping a record of something that was said to you. Telling the other people is good practice, and it is what makes a recording useful later rather than contentious.

The limit is conversations you are not part of. Recording or listening to a private communication you are not a party to is interception under section 216B of the Crimes Act 1961, and it is an offence. If you record for a business or at work, the Privacy Act 2020 applies as well. Do not use this to record other people's private conversations. This is general information, not legal advice.
