Description

The VIM-FRAMECAMLED is a 2K camera built into a digital photo frame with a 20.3 x 20.3cm LED display that runs a slideshow or a calendar clock. The number that sets it apart is standby: a 10,000mAh battery and a PIR sensor give up to 180 days between charges.

It records 2304 x 1296 at 30fps to a microSD card up to 256GB, with infrared out to about 8m for dark rooms and a PIR detection range of 5 to 8m. Plugged into mains it records continuously instead, and on-frame buttons play photos and videos back on the display itself.

Features

Up to 180 days standby: a 10,000mAh battery with PIR wake means it can be left in place for six months rather than recharged every few days.
2K recording: 2304 x 1296 at 30fps in H.264, saved as MOV.
PIR detection at 5 to 8m: a thermal and motion sensor wakes the camera on activity, which is what makes the long standby possible.
Infrared to about 8m: records in a dark room out to 8m without adding visible light to it.
Playback on the frame: on-frame buttons select and play photos or videos on the 20.3 x 20.3cm LED display, so you do not need a computer to check it.
It works as a photo frame: slideshow and calendar clock modes run while the camera is working.
Mains or battery: plugged in it records continuously; on battery it runs PIR triggered.
256GB storage: microSD up to 256GB, which suits long unattended deployments.

Applications

Real-World Scenarios

A Property You Own And Rarely Visit

A bach, a sleepout or a house between tenancies. Six months of standby means you set it once and come back to it, rather than driving out to change a battery.

Your Own Living Room Or Hallway

Somewhere a framed display belongs. On mains power it records continuously, and the display is doing a job for you the rest of the time.

An Office Or Reception You Run

Premises you manage, with a notice at the entrance so people know the area is recorded. PIR mode keeps the card to events during the hours nobody should be there.

How it Works

Charge and load: charge the 10,000mAh battery over USB and fit a microSD card up to 256GB, class 10 or better.
Set the mode: PIR triggered for long standby on battery, or plug into mains for continuous 24/7 recording.
Review: play footage back on the frame's own display with the on-frame buttons, or read the card on a Windows computer.

Specifications

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I use this and stay within the law?

You can record a space you own or control. Your own house, your own office or shop, a stockroom, a garage or a holiday house are all ordinary lawful uses and they are what this is sold for. The limits are worth setting up correctly from the start. The Privacy Act 2020 expects people to be told when a space is being recorded, so a notice at the entrance is the usual answer for any area that staff, visitors or contractors use. Bathrooms, changing areas and bedrooms are off limits, and intimate visual recording is an offence under the Crimes Act 1961. Audio is treated more strictly than video: recording a private conversation you are not part of is a criminal offence. If the space is not yours to control, this is not the right device for it. This is general information, not legal advice.

How long does it last without mains power?

Up to 180 days on standby with PIR mode and the 10,000mAh battery. That figure is standby, not recording: continuous 24/7 recording needs mains power.

Does it record while the display is showing photos?

Yes. The camera runs in the background while the display shows a slideshow or the calendar clock.

What card should I use?

microSD up to 256GB, class 10 or better, so writes keep up with 2K and the frame responds quickly.

How far does the night vision reach?

About 8m of infrared, giving monochrome footage in a dark room without adding any visible light to it.

Can I look at the footage without a computer?

Yes, and that is one of the reasons to choose this version. The on-frame buttons select and play recordings on the display itself.
