The VIM-DIYWIFI is the plain version of this module: 1080p, a 90 degree lens on a flexible cable, a microphone, and a battery good for about six hours. No infrared, no extras.

It records Full HD with audio to a microSD card up to 128GB at roughly 18MB a minute, and joins WiFi so you can watch and pull clips from the app. Motion activated recording is the mode most people leave it in, because it turns six hours of battery into several days of useful coverage.

Set the mode: position the lens using the flexible cable so it has a clear 90 degree view, and set continuous or motion activated recording.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this model have night vision?

No. There are no infrared LEDs in its specification, so it needs the room to have some light in it. If you need a dark room covered, choose the version of this module that has infrared fitted.

How long will a card last?

At roughly 18MB per minute, a 128GB card holds well over 100 hours of continuous 1080p. In motion mode it will cover far longer than the battery will.

Continuous or motion only?

Either. Continuous gives about six hours on the internal battery; motion activated recording stretches that out considerably because the camera is idle between events.

Can I power it for longer?

Yes. Connect it to an external USB power source and it will keep going past the six hour figure.

Can I record with this legally in New Zealand?

Yes, in a place you own or control: your own home, your own shed, your own business premises, or a vehicle you own. The Privacy Act 2020 expects you to be open about it, so tell the people who live or work in the space and tell passengers before they get in. Bathrooms, changing areas and bedrooms that are not yours are out, and intimate visual recording is an offence under the Crimes Act 1961. This module records audio, which is treated more strictly than video, so leave it off unless you are part of the conversation.
