Description

The VIM-V70 is a single piece WiFi module with the lens on a bendable lead, which is the difference between fitting a camera into a bracket and building a housing around one.

It records 1920 x 1080p at 25fps in H.264 to a microSD card up to 128GB, streams live to the free Android and iOS app over your own router, and starts a clip with a push notification when it detects movement. A 3000mAh cell is supplied, and the DC adapter runs it continuously when it is somewhere with power.

Features

Full HD at 25fps: 1920 x 1080p in H.264, recorded to your own card.
Bendable lens lead: Position the lens through an opening or along a bracket while the body sits behind it.
Live view on your phone: Joins your own WiFi, then streams and plays back through the app on Android or iOS.
Motion alerts: Movement starts a recording and pushes a notification.
3000mAh battery supplied: A real cell rather than a token backup, with mains power available for continuous work.
90 degree view: Wide enough for a doorway or a bench from a short distance.

Applications

Real-World Scenarios

Your Own Garage or Workshop

Mains power and continuous recording, with the lens on its lead reaching the view rather than the mounting point.

A Bench or Bay in Your Own Business

Fitted into a bracket over a work area, with a notice up so staff know the area is recorded.

Your Own Home While You Are Out

Live view over your own router is the point. Check the room rather than wait to get home.

A Property You Own and Visit Occasionally

The 3000mAh cell plus motion detection covers a bach or a lockup between visits without mains power.

How it Works

Charge and load: fit a microSD card up to 128GB and charge or connect the 3000mAh battery.
Pair it: join the camera to your own WiFi in the app and set motion detection or continuous recording on DC power.
Watch or review: watch live or play clips back in the app, or read the card on a computer.

Specifications

Power: 5V, 2A maximum. Use the adapter supplied, or a standard 5V USB charger or power bank rated 2A or less. Do not use fast chargers (USB-C PD, Quick Charge, Super Fast Charging) or high-output power banks: they can damage the device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it record in the dark?

No. There is no infrared in this model, so it needs some light in the room. If you need a dark room covered, choose the version of this module that has infrared fitted.

Continuous or motion only?

Either. Motion detection saves card space and battery, and continuous recording works when it is on the DC adapter.

How long does the battery last?

The 3000mAh cell handles portable use. For multi day operation, connect a power bank or use the DC adapter.

Can I watch live from another address?

Yes. Connect it to your own WiFi and the free Android or iOS app gives you live view and push notifications.

Can I record with this legally in New Zealand?

Yes, in a place you own or control: your own home, your own garage, your own business premises. The Privacy Act 2020 expects you to be open about it, so tell the people who live or work in the space, and put a notice up in a business. Bathrooms, changing areas and bedrooms that are not yours are out, and intimate visual recording is an offence under the Crimes Act 1961. Audio is treated more strictly than video, so leave it out unless you are part of the conversation.
