The VIM-BLOCK5 is the room-scale version. Seventy two ultrasonic speakers arranged for a full 360 degree field, effective out to eight metres, which is a whole boardroom rather than one end of a table.
Run it from the buttons on the body or the supplied remote, on high or low power, or leave it in sound control mode so it responds to speech. The 5200mAh battery gives about three hours away from mains power.
The specification gives zero to eight metres in a full 360 degree circle. Eight metres is the outer edge, so for a large room place it centrally rather than against a wall.
Ultrasound is directional and drops off quickly. Seventy two speakers is what produces an even field in every direction rather than strong lobes with gaps between them.
Yes. There are buttons on the unit itself. The remote is for starting it without walking over to it.
About three hours on the 5200mAh cell. It runs continuously on the 16.8V adapter for longer sessions.
It is 132 by 132 by 232mm, so it is a desk unit rather than a pocket one. For travel, look at the air purifier or power bank versions in the same range.
You can protect your own conversations in a space you control, and that is what these are made for. Two things to keep in mind. This is an ultrasonic device: it emits sound above the range of human hearing, not radio signals, so it is not a radio jammer, and radio frequency jamming equipment is regulated separately under the Radiocommunications Act 1989. And it works on every microphone in range, including ones you may be relying on, so switch it off before a call you want recorded and never use it to interfere with a recording someone is lawfully entitled to make.
