Description

The VIM-HUBCAM2 is a desktop power hub: mains sockets, USB outputs and a 10W wireless charging pad, with a 1080p camera in the front of the housing. It is permanently powered by what it is, so it records around the clock with nothing to recharge.

It joins your WiFi router for live view and motion alerts on Android or iOS, records H.264 at 30fps, and has 32GB of built-in memory with loop recording, so it works without buying a card. The pad delivers 5W, 7.5W or 10W with over-charge protection.

Features

Records 24/7: the unit is mains powered by design, so continuous recording needs no battery and no planning.
32GB built in: memory is included, with loop recording overwriting the oldest files, so it works out of the box.
1080p at 30fps: 1920 x 1080 in H.264, saved as MOV with a date and time stamp.
WiFi live view: connects to your router and streams to the Android or iOS app, with pop-up motion alerts.
Wireless charging at up to 10W: a non-slip silicone pad supporting 5W, 7.5W and 10W with over-charge protection.
Real USB hub: standard socket ports and 5V 2.4A of total USB output, so the desk gains something rather than losing a socket.
Daytime motion detection: the sensor triggers recording and sends an alert. There is no infrared, so use continuous recording for a dark room.
Charging status LEDs: red and blue indicators show what the pad is doing.

Applications

Real-World Scenarios

Your Own Desk Or Home Office

A hub does a job on a desk regardless of the camera, and being mains powered it records the room for as long as you leave it plugged in.

Reception Or Staff Room You Run

Premises you manage, with a notice at the entrance. Everyone gets somewhere to charge a phone, and the room is covered during working hours.

Somewhere You Do Not Want To Buy A Card For

32GB is built in and loop recording keeps it running, so this is the one to choose when you want it working the day it arrives.

How it Works

Plug it in: set the hub where you want the room covered and connect the mains lead. The 1m cable decides how far from the socket it can sit.
Connect: join it to your WiFi router in the Android or iOS app for live view and motion notifications.
Record: leave it on continuous recording with loop overwrite, or switch to motion triggered for daytime cover.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I use this and stay within the law?

You can record a space you own or control. Your own house, your own office or shop, a stockroom, a garage or a holiday house are all ordinary lawful uses and they are what this is sold for. The limits are worth setting up correctly from the start. The Privacy Act 2020 expects people to be told when a space is being recorded, so a notice at the entrance is the usual answer for any area that staff, visitors or contractors use. Bathrooms, changing areas and bedrooms are off limits, and intimate visual recording is an offence under the Crimes Act 1961. Audio is treated more strictly than video: recording a private conversation you are not part of is a criminal offence. If the space is not yours to control, this is not the right device for it. This is general information, not legal advice.

How does it record continuously without filling up?

Loop recording overwrites the oldest files on the built-in 32GB memory, so the most recent footage is always there. Move anything you want to keep off the device before it cycles round.

Can I watch it while I am out?

Yes. Connect it to your WiFi router and use the Android or iOS app for a live feed and motion alerts.

Does it charge phones while it records?

Yes. The USB outputs and the wireless pad at 5W, 7.5W or 10W all work while the camera is streaming or recording.

Does motion detection work at night?

The sensor is specified for daytime and there is no infrared emitter, so in a dark room use continuous recording instead. If night cover matters, choose a camera with infrared.

What video quality does it record?

Full HD 1920 x 1080 at 30fps in H.264, both for recording and for the live stream.
