Description

A holiday house is empty for most of the year, and the broadband is usually the first thing switched off. The VIM-4GLX-2 works around that by taking a 4G SIM, so the camera is reachable whether or not anyone is paying for a connection at the property.

It streams 1080p over the mobile network to Android, iOS or Windows, covers a room or an entrance with a 110 degree lens, and sees about 10 metres on 840nm infrared after dark. Motion detection sends a snapshot and an alert to your phone, two way audio lets you speak through the camera, and recording runs either on motion or continuously to a microSD card up to 128GB. It runs from a 12V 2A mains adapter.

How it Works

Fit a SIM and power it: Insert a data SIM from Spark, One NZ or 2degrees, mount the camera on the supplied bracket and plug in the 12V 2A adapter.
Pair the app: Add the camera in the phone app over P2P. It comes up on 4G bands B1 to B40 with no router involved, so it works at a property with the broadband disconnected.
Set alerts and recording: Turn on motion detection to get a snapshot and a push alert, choose motion triggered or 24/7 recording to the microSD card, and use two way audio to speak to whoever is at the door.
