The VIM-BAGCAM2 is a handbag with a camera module beside the zipper. It runs on an internal 2500mAh battery, joins a 2.4GHz WiFi network and streams to the free Android or iOS app, so it works either as a bag you carry or as a camera you set down in a room of your own.

Live view runs at 4K and recordings are saved at 1080p Full HD with audio, to a microSD card up to 128GB or to cloud storage. The battery gives about five hours, and there is room inside for a USB power bank when you need longer.

What am I allowed to record with a bag I carry?

Two situations are straightforward. You can record what is in front of you in a public place, and you can record a conversation you are taking part in: the Crimes Act 1961 offence is intercepting a private conversation you are not a party to, not one you are in. You can also record premises you own or control, which is the other use this is sold for. The limits are firm. If you are recording as a business you have Privacy Act 2020 obligations to tell people and to look after the footage. Bathrooms and changing areas are off limits and intimate visual recording is a criminal offence. Leaving it running in a space that is not yours to control is not a use we support.
