Description

The VIM-PLANTCAM is an artificial plant in a pot with a camera in the housing. It runs on an internal 2500mAh battery with no cable at all, which is the reason to choose it: it goes on a shelf or a side table nowhere near a power socket, in a room of your own.

Live view streams at 4K to the Android or iOS app over your WiFi network, and recordings are saved at 1080p Full HD to a microSD card up to 128GB or to cloud storage. The battery gives about five hours, and a USB power bank extends that.

Features

No cable at all: a 2500mAh rechargeable battery runs it for about five hours, so it goes where there is no socket.
4K live, 1080p recorded: live view streams in Ultra HD and clips are saved at 1080p Full HD.
WiFi and app: joins a 2.4GHz network and gives live view, playback and settings from the free Android or iOS app.
Motion alerts: movement triggers recording and a pop-up notification to your phone.
Card or cloud: save to a microSD card up to 128GB, to cloud storage, or both.
Extendable runtime: a USB power bank connected to the camera runs it well past the five hour mark.

Applications

Real-World Scenarios

A Shelf With No Power Nearby

Rooms in your own home where the only useful vantage point is nowhere near a socket. The battery removes the cable entirely, so placement is decided by the view rather than by the wiring.

Reception Or Waiting Area You Run

A side table in premises you manage, with notice at the entrance. Motion alerts flag activity out of hours and the camera moves to a different table whenever you want a different angle.

A Holiday House Between Visits

Somewhere you own and leave empty. Charge it, place it, and check the app. Cloud backup means the footage survives even if the unit itself does not.

How it Works

Charge and place it: charge over USB, then set it on a shelf or table facing the area you want covered. No cable is needed once it is charged.
Connect: install the free Android or iOS app and join the camera to your 2.4GHz WiFi network.
Record and review: choose motion or continuous recording, then watch live in the app or play back from the card or the cloud.

Specifications

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I put this and stay within the law?

You can record a space you own or control. Your own house, your own office or shop, a stockroom, a garage or a holiday house are all ordinary lawful uses and they are what this is sold for. The limits are worth setting up correctly from the start. The Privacy Act 2020 expects people to be told when a space is being recorded, so a notice at the entrance is the usual answer for any area that staff, visitors or contractors use. Bathrooms, changing areas and bedrooms are off limits, and intimate visual recording is an offence under the Crimes Act 1961. Audio is treated more strictly than video: recording a private conversation you are not part of is a criminal offence. If the space is not yours to control, this is not the right device for it. This is general information, not legal advice.

How long does it run without a cable?

About five hours on the 2500mAh battery. Connecting a USB power bank extends that considerably, and it can be left on charge for continuous use.

What does it actually record at?

Recordings are saved at 1080p Full HD. The 4K figure refers to the live streaming mode.

Does it need my WiFi?

Yes. It joins a 2.4GHz WiFi network for live view and alerts. Without a network it cannot stream or notify you.

Where does the footage go?

To a microSD card up to 128GB in the unit, to cloud storage, or both. Cloud backup is useful where the camera itself might be taken.
