Frequently Asked Questions

Does it work without a phone connected?

Yes. It records to the microSD card on its own. The WiFi link is only for live view, settings and downloading clips, so there is nothing to forget before you ride.

How long does the supercapacitor run after the bike is off?

About ten seconds, which is enough to close and save the last file before shutting down. It is not a battery and it is not meant to give you standalone recording time. That is what the hardwire kit is for.

Is it waterproof?

The cameras are IP67 rated, which covers dust and immersion in water to one metre for thirty minutes. Rain and road spray are well inside that.

Can I use my own microSD card?

Yes. Any Class 10 or UHS-I microSD card up to 256GB will work, and the card is not included. Format it in the camera before first use rather than on a computer.

How do I get the video files off?

Three ways: take the microSD card out and read it in a computer, connect your phone over WiFi and download the clips, or plug the main unit into a computer with the USB cable.

Will it drain my bike's battery?

Not if the cut off is set correctly. The hardwire kit has an adjustable low voltage cut off that shuts the camera down before the battery drops too far. Set it above the voltage your bike needs to start.

Can I legally run a camera on my bike in New Zealand?

Recording the road from your own motorbike is ordinary and widely done. Audio is the part with different rules from video: recording conversations comes under the Privacy Act 2020 and the Crimes Act 1961, so be aware of what you are capturing if you run a helmet intercom through it.
