Description

The VIM-HCAM is a working air humidifier with a 1080p camera in the housing. It runs from a USB power adapter rather than a battery, so it records continuously for as long as it is plugged in, in a room of your own where a humidifier belongs anyway.

The camera records 1920 x 1080 across a 90 degree view, joins your WiFi router for live view and pop-up alerts on Android or iOS, and detects motion out to about 6m. Footage is saved locally to a microSD card up to 128GB.

Features

Runs 24/7 on mains power: a USB power adapter keeps it going continuously, with no battery to charge or swap.
1080p across 90 degrees: 1920 x 1080 recording with a wide enough lens to cover a room from a bench or a side table.
WiFi live view: connects to your router and gives live view and settings on Android or iOS, with pop-up alerts on activity.
Motion detection to about 6m: records on movement so the card holds events rather than empty hours.
128GB local storage: microSD up to 128GB, keeping footage in the building rather than on a cloud service.
It works as a humidifier: the humidifier function is real, so it earns the space and the socket it uses.

Applications

Real-World Scenarios

A Bedroom Or Living Room In Your Own Home

Somewhere a humidifier is already running through winter. It is powered anyway, so the camera covers the room for as long as the humidifier is in use.

Your Own Office Or Reception

Premises you run, with a notice at the entrance so staff and visitors know the area is recorded. Mains power covers the full working day without anything to recharge.

A Room You Check On From Elsewhere

Live view over your own WiFi from anywhere with internet, with motion alerts so you look when something happens rather than watching an empty room.

How it Works

Place and power it: set it where you want the room covered and connect the USB power adapter. It needs a permanent supply for continuous recording.
Connect: install the Android or iOS app and join the camera to your WiFi router.
Record and review: choose motion recording or continuous, then watch live in the app or read the microSD card.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I use this and stay within the law?

You can record a space you own or control. Your own house, your own office or shop, a stockroom, a garage or a holiday house are all ordinary lawful uses and they are what this is sold for. The limits are worth setting up correctly from the start. The Privacy Act 2020 expects people to be told when a space is being recorded, so a notice at the entrance is the usual answer for any area that staff, visitors or contractors use. Bathrooms, changing areas and bedrooms are off limits, and intimate visual recording is an offence under the Crimes Act 1961. Audio is treated more strictly than video: recording a private conversation you are not part of is a criminal offence. If the space is not yours to control, this is not the right device for it. This is general information, not legal advice.

Does it run on a battery?

No. It is designed to run continuously from a USB power adapter, which is why it can record around the clock. Plan the position around a socket.

How wide is the view?

90 degrees, which covers a room from a bench or a side table without needing a central position.

How far does motion detection reach?

About 6m. Place it within that of the area you want triggering alerts, or run continuous recording instead.

Can I watch it while I am out?

Yes. Join it to your WiFi router and use the Android or iOS app for live view and pop-up motion notifications.

Where is footage stored?

On a microSD card up to 128GB in the unit, which is not supplied. Nothing is uploaded to a cloud service.
