Remote sites need cameras where there is no mains power and no internet. This four camera kit puts a 120° wide-angle lens and an 8mm PTZ lens on every camera, so you get the scene and the detail at the same time. One 4G SIM in the solar-powered hub runs the whole system off-grid, with no mains, no router and no separate NVR.

Remote Property or Farm

No power lines reaching the boundary fence and no internet past the house. Gates, sheds and water tanks sit a long way from anything with infrastructure. Mount the hub centrally where the solar panel gets clear sky, insert a 4G SIM, and place the cameras within 50 metres of it. Each camera runs on its own 5W solar panel and 7,800mAh battery, with no cable between any component. The dual lens gives you a wide view of the gate plus PTZ detail on whoever is approaching.

Construction Site or Temporary Depot

Tools and materials go missing after hours, and the site moves on when the job finishes. This system deploys in an afternoon and relocates when the project does, with no trenching, no electrician and no internet contract. Human detection sends a phone alert when someone comes in after hours, and four cameras from one hub cover the perimeter from a single mounting point.

Yard or Loading Dock Beyond WiFi Reach

Buildings between the office and the yard kill the WiFi signal, and trenching cable for a network drop is not worth it on a leased site. Mount the solar hub on a yard light pole or a shed corner with its own 4G SIM, and cover the loading dock, the truck parking, the container and the rear gate from four cameras streaming to your phone over 4G.

How it Works

Fix the solar hub to a wall or eave where the 10W panel has clear sky, and mount the cameras within 30 to 50 metres of it, each with its own 5W panel angled toward the sun.
Put a 4G Micro SIM in the hub and follow the in-app prompt to bring the data connection up. The cameras join the hub's private WiFi network by QR code, so no router or home internet is involved.
Open the UBOX app on iOS or Android for quad live view, PTZ control, two-way audio and playback. Push alerts arrive within seconds of a human detection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a SIM card to use this system?

Yes. The hub uses a single 4G Micro SIM to provide internet to all four cameras. It does not connect to a home WiFi router; it creates its own private WiFi network for the cameras and uses 4G to reach your phone. Any New Zealand carrier will do (Spark, One NZ, 2degrees or an MVNO), with enough data for how often you view. Occasional motion alerts and short live-view sessions typically sit around $10 to $15 a month.

How far can the cameras be from the hub?

Up to 50 metres in open areas. Walls, metal structures and dense vegetation reduce that. Position the hub centrally, because all four cameras have to be inside the range of its WiFi signal.

Does each camera need its own SD card?

Yes. The hub is a router, not a recorder, so it provides the network connection but does not store footage. Each camera records independently to its own micro SD card (up to 128GB, sold separately). If you want all four cameras recording, you need four cards.

What happens during extended cloudy weather?

The hub's 20,100mAh battery runs for more than 120 hours, about five days, with no solar input at all. Each camera has a 7,800mAh battery and its own 5W panel. In a long overcast spell the hub accepts Type-C 5V/2A backup charging, and the system reduces recording frequency automatically to conserve power as battery levels drop.

Can the hub connect to my home WiFi router instead of using 4G?

No. The hub is a 4G-only device: it takes one Micro SIM for internet and creates its own private WiFi network for the cameras. If the site already has home WiFi and you want to avoid 4G data costs, our WiFi-uplink model (VIM-SOL4WIFI3, 500m hub, no SIM required) uses your existing router instead. For genuinely off-grid sites with no internet at all, this 4G system is the right fit.

Is the night vision visible?

There are two modes. Infrared uses 850nm LEDs that give off a faint red glow at close range in complete darkness and reaches 20 metres. Colour night vision uses white LEDs that are clearly visible and light the area, reaching 10 metres. Pick the mode in the app: infrared when you do not want the area lit, white LEDs when you want the light itself to act as a deterrent.
