Description

The VIM-4GV97 is the small end of the 4G camera range: a 53.5 by 45 by 18.5mm recorder with a pinhole lens on a 2m lead, so the visible part of the install is the lens alone.

A Sony IMX323 sensor records 1920x1080 through a 3.7mm lens with a 90 degree view, with time and date stamping and encrypted transfer. Live view and playback reach an Android phone, an iPhone or a Windows PC over its own 4G SIM, and motion detection pushes an alert when something moves. Footage goes to a microSD card up to 256GB, about ten days at 1080p. The internal battery covers up to four hours, and a DC adapter or power bank keeps it recording continuously.

Features

4G remote access: Insert a SIM to stream, control settings, and review clips from virtually anywhere using your mobile device.
Flexible power options: Built-in rechargeable battery for short jobs, with optional 10,000mAh or 20,000mAh power banks for multi-day standby.
Covert pinhole lens: 3.7mm lens with 90° field of view for discreet placement in tight spaces without drawing attention.
Efficient recording: Motion detection with push notifications prioritises events; continuous recording supported when plugged in.
Large local storage: Accepts microSD up to 256GB, enabling up to ten days of footage depending on settings and activity.

Applications

Real-World Scenarios

Workshops and sheds you own

A workshop with tools in it is worth watching, and rarely has a network. The recorder runs on 4G and the lens fits above a bench where a full sized camera will not.

Tills and service counters

In a business you own or manage, the lens can be positioned to cover the till area. Tell your staff it is there, which is both the lawful position and the one that actually deters.

Vehicles and temporary sites

A van or a site office moves around, and a power bank plus a data SIM makes the camera portable with it. There is nothing to reconnect when the location changes.

How it Works

Mount the lens, then the recorder: Run the 2m cable from wherever the lens needs to sit on your own premises back to a spot where you can reach the recorder to swap the card.
Insert a data SIM: A 4G SIM with data brings it online. Nothing else is needed on site, so it suits buildings with no broadband connected.
Set recording and alerts: Choose continuous or motion only recording to the microSD card, and turn on push notifications so movement reaches your phone rather than waiting for you to check.

Frequently Asked Questions

What SIM card do I need?

A 4G SIM with an active data plan. Insert it, power the unit and follow the app instructions. There is no WiFi mode, so the SIM is what makes it work.

How long will a 256GB card record?

Roughly ten days of 1080p footage, depending on how much movement there is and whether you record continuously or on motion only.

What are my power options?

The internal battery gives up to four hours. A 10000mAh power bank extends that considerably and a 20000mAh one runs it for days, or use the DC adapter for permanent 24/7 recording.

What can I lawfully record with this in New Zealand?

You can record premises you own or control, such as your own workshop, shed, shop floor or vehicle, to protect property and gather evidence. Under the Privacy Act 2020 you should tell people who work there that recording happens, and you must not point a camera into a place where someone reasonably expects privacy, such as a bathroom or a changing area. Recording audio of a conversation you are not part of is treated more strictly than video under the Crimes Act 1961. This is general information, not legal advice.
